Reform of the Serbian education system is a priority of the Serbian Association of Employers in 2022.

The President of the Serbian Association of Employers, chairman of the Social-Economic Council of the Republic of Serbia and President of the assembly of the Chamber of Commerce, Miloš Nenezić, pointed out at the meeting of the Rasina Regional Chamber of Commerce that negotiations on reforming Serbia’s education system have formally begun through the Social-Economic Council of the Republic of Serbia in December 2021.

“The education system needs to be changed thoroughly, and in accordance with that the National Employment Service. The economy and society should make plans on changes of the schooling, or rather the education system and actively monitor and adapt to changes on the market.”

In the initiative of the Serbian Association of Employers, on which are based the negotiations about the reform of the education system, was highlighted that “The Republic of Serbia is facing a long-term gap between the supply and demand of workforce, with a high number of diplomas which are not useful in practice, with deficits of certain occupations, lack of knowledge and skills, and insufficient mobility of the workforce, outdated nomenclature of occupations.

We would like to highlight that the initiative of the Serbian Association of Employers, on which are based the innitiated negotiations on the reform of the education system, states that “The Republic of Serbia is facing a long-term gap between supply and demand of workforce, with a large number of diplomas which not useful in practice, with deficits of certain occupations, lack of knowledge and skills, and insufficient mobility of the workforce, outdated nomenclature of occupations. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to harmonize educational programs with the needs of the labor market, because otherwise they will be a brake on faster economic growth, new high-tech investments, competitiveness of the domestic economy”.
